Leonora Whitaker was eager to contribute in any way she could to her new home and the “Cutter Gap” community. The art of transportation in the mountainous area with valleys, streams, and hills depended on walking, hiking, and riding. With her riding skills honed on Theo the mule and then mastering riding the tall stallion Prince, she took up the reins of the Mission’s wagon.

The same spunky, fearless young woman who left city comforts enjoyed the challenges of learning skills that fit into her new mountain life. Nothing was too daunting for Leonora.
